The Problem

I live in Dacusville, South Carolina and I couldn’t help but noticed that existing website wasn’t providing even basic information about the groups, offerings, and events offered by the Community Center.

We needed a website that could help local residents keep up to date with the goings on of the Community Center, including events for the kids events, live music, and other fundraisers.

The Process

We walked the Community Club leadership through everything they needed to know about the domain and hosting, which led to purchasing a new domain and converting the website from a .COM to a more non-profit appropriate .ORG address.

We then reviewed all the local Facebook pages and spoke with the volunteers who run the library and community center and determined the top three goals for the new website:

  1. A comprehensive collection of the basic information for all community groups that meet at the Dacusville Community Center, including how other groups can join.
  2. An easily updated calendar with all upcoming community events.
  3. A way for residents to review availability and request rental of the three venues offered by the Community Center.

Goal #1

A comprehensive collection of the basic information for all community groups that meet at the Dacusville Community Center, including how other groups can join.

Goal #2

An easily updated calendar with all upcoming community events.

Goal #3

A way for residents to review availability for and request rental of the three venues offered by the Community Center.

The Solution

The new Dacusville Community Center website servies as a hub for all community programs and events sponsored by the Dacusville Community Club or taking place at the Center.

The front page includes a hero banner advertising all major events and local businesses, and there is a dedicated section calling out four important upcoming events. There is also an Events pages with a monthly calendar. Events can be advertised as free to the public, by cost, or with an RSVP in the case of limited space.

There are also dedicated pages for the Community Library and Fitness Center as well as all volunteer-supported groups.

The website now offers a central location for all upcoming events and shows newcomers and neighbors the beauty and vibrance of our small community.
